The University of Strathclyde provides an opportunity for international students to benefit from the International Undergraduate Sports Performance Scholarship which enables outstanding student-athletes who are serious competitors in competitions at international level to explore a dual career path.

Application deadlines are 09.00 GMT on me:
- January 17 (prospective students only),
- April 25 (prospective students only),
- June 20 (Current and prospective students with university offers),
- August 29, 2024 (New students who have confirmed places at the university).
The Sports Performance Scholarships provide a full support package of £5,750 per annum to its students.
All nationalities are eligible to apply for this program.
All applicants must compete in a sport recognized in Scotland, with priority given to students competing in a BUCS sport who are able to demonstrate the ability to play a part in achieving the university’s target of being ranked in the top 20 in the UK. . Furthermore, all applicants must compete at the junior level at the lower international level, if not the top level.
English language requirements:
Different type of English tests can be taken as proof of English proficiency but IELTS is the most common. More information about this topic can be found on the British Council website.
The university’s current standard requirements are:
Academic IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 5.5)
Academic IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 if applying to the College of Science (no individual group less than 5.5)
Academic IELTS test with a score of 6.0 if applying for the Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management (each band score not less than 5.5)
You should check each section of the English language requirements for your chosen degree program as requirements can vary from one program to another.
If a qualification is not listed, you should contact the Employment and International Office for guidance.
University preparation programs:
The University offers international students the option of studying undergraduate or postgraduate preparation programs at the University of Strathclyde International Studies Center for students who are unable to meet the academic requirements for the degree. Depending on their completion, students are able to continue their studies at degree level at Strathclyde.

If you are an international student seeking to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies at the University of Strathclyde, and need to improve your English level to meet the language requirements of your chosen degree, the University offers a number of English programs and language taught courses to improve your English language skills. You will not need to retake the IELTS test or take a different English test.
